Russian Supreme Court Rules Against Human Rights Group

The Russian Supreme Court turned down an appeal made by Memorial Society, a human rights organization. The authorities had ordered “liquidation” of Memorial’s over 30 years’ of work spent documenting victims of Soviet repression. This action occurs after the European Court of Human Rights halted the “liquidation” order, citing concerns of whether or not Russia’s “foreign agents” law violates the European Convention.
